Biochemistry 669B: Special Topics in Protein-Nucleic Acid Interaction

What's Here?

The (mutable) syllabus for the course is here.

We have changed the meeting time to 10 a.m. MWF, except for days when there are faculty search research meetings. You will always have plenty of warning.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Weeks and Cech RNA-protein interaction papers is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of DNA computing paper is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Sancar and Hearst paper is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the two a1/alpha2 homeodomain papers is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Spolar and Record paper is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the bZIP folding papers is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Thanos and Maniatis paper is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Giese et al. paper is here.

Auxiliary reading list for the discussion of the Baker et al. paper is here.

A large collection of PDB files of RNA/DNA binding proteins and protein-RNA/DNA complexes, downloaded from the Brookhaven Protein Data Bank. This server (www-chem.umd.edu) supports the experimental mime type chemical/x-pdb. If you change your browser options (on UNIX, a .mailcap file), you can bring up a pdb viewer directly upon clicking on a PDB file link. Otherwise, you will be asked to save the file and can then read it in to a viewer from outside your browser. For example, my .mailcap file is:
chemical/x-pdb ; rasmol %s

For Mac Netscape, set helper applications under "options".

For rasmol and other PDB viewers, see The NIH Guide to Molecular Modeling
