Background papers for Sancar and Hearst Discussion

The primary paper (Sancar, A. and Hearst, J. E., 1993, "Molecular Matchmakers." Science 259, 1415-1420), to be discussed 3/13/96, presents a model for the use of the energy from ATP hydrolysis in altering protein-DNA interactions. We are interested in the generality of the model and its thermodynamic and kinetic implications. The background papers explore different examples of matchmakers and related systems.
